Jonathan Wong

Jonathan Wong is a multi-hyphenate entertainer and creator— singing, songwriting, acting, producing, dancing and choreographing for audiences all over Asia for over a decade. Born in the U.S., then moving to Hong Kong for much of his youth, he began studying music at a young age, and started formal training in dance during his high school years at Milton Academy, followed by a double major in Psychology and Modern dance at Cornell University.
Jonathan made his Hong Kong musical debut in 2009 and has since earned dozens of awards in numerous categories for his work. Jonathan’s unique and stylish performances have been broadcast over many of China’s largest networks, including the country’s biggest singer- songwriter competition, CCTV’s Sing My Song (2016). He has also written and produced for Chinese pop superstars like Karen Mok, Sammi Cheng, and X-NINE with much chart-topping success.
Jonathan has fast become one of Hong Kong’s most promising young character actors.
Since his acting debut in 2014, he’s made appearances in almost a dozen TV series including Limelight Years (2015) for which his critically acclaimed performance opposite veteran actress Liza Wang earned him his first “Best Supporting Actor” nomination and 2019’s Wonder Women, which was named Weibo’s “Best Drama Series” of the year.

Film-wise, Jonathan has also played in Johnnie To's critically acclaimed crime thriller Three (2016) opposite Zhao Wei, led in musical film House of The Rising Sons (2018), and played the famous warrior Cao Ren in a live action adaptation of the popular video game series, Dynasty Warriors (2021).
From 2019 - 2020, Jonathan led as the titular role in an original musical theater production The Matteo Ricci. The 20 sold-out shows were exceptionally well-received, earning the production invitations to tour in various countries.
He is also on the executive committee of the Hong Kong Film Awards, The Hong Kong Filmmaker’s Guild, the Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild, and a founding member of its NGO Charitable foundation (alongside Jackie Chan, Louis Koo, and Eric Tsang, etc.) which has fought for the rights of local filmmakers, as well as created educational and employment opportunities for the next generation of industry professionals.
In the past 2 years, Jonathan has dedicated much of his time to developing scripted film and TV projects with his agency, William Morris Endeavor, as well as mixed reality entertainment projects under his production company Octagon Metatainment. He currently spends his time between Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
